Royal Agricultural Winter Fair 2009

KAWARTHA CHOICE FARMFRESH SHOWCASES LOCAL PRODUCTS AT ROYAL AGRICULTURALWINTER FAIR

Kawartha Choice FarmFresh (KCFF) showcased locally grown products at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (RAWF) from November 6-15 in Toronto.  This is the third year that KCFF has attended the Royal along with local producers and chefs who are eager to display their products at the fair held at Exhibition Place. The concept of attending the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair was the result of a committee being formed by the Eastern Ontario Development Program, both local and regional and by FedDev, each local CFDC sponsored a business, to represent their county.  This committee was made up of local representatives, of which Judy Heffernan, of the Community Futures Development Corporation of Peterborugh was a part. A decision of herself and the board members of our local CFDC choose Kawartha Choice FarmFresh to represent the county of Peterborough. This is a great opportunity for our initiative and we are thankful and proud to represent our county. A big thank you also goes to the organizing committee of the EODP, a lot of time goes into pulling our counties together and they have done a great job for the past three years. The camaraderie of all the counties is very evident. The Eastern Ontario Pavilion stands alone, and has become a ‘model’ that the RAWF board would like to see duplicated throughout the fair. There is no higher compliment then having your initiative copied!

This year the KCFF booth featured products from; 38 Degrees, Staples Maple, Crazy Acres Farms, Aurora Farms, Traynor Beef Farm, McLean’s Berry Farm, Lunar Rhythm Gardens, Eden Lane Farm, Lane’s End, Barb’s Home Baking, Blackhoney, and Doo Doos Bakery. The booth also featured an interactive website showcase displaying websites from KCFF, www.kawarthachoice.com (http://www.kawarthachoice.com/), Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism, www.thekawathas.net (http://www.thekawathas.net/), the City of Kawartha Lakes, www.city.kawarthalakes.on.ca (http://www.city.kawarthalakes.on.ca/)and a new initiative from the County of Peterborough, Trip Click, designedto allow visitors to the area to create their own itinerary.

Thank you again, to all our sponsors for providing a great opportunity for our initiative, Kawartha Choice FarmFresh! See all the photos in our gallery.
