Occupational Health & Safety Act for Farms

Attention farmers! Do you have full-time, part-time or casual help on your farm? If so, do you know how the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as the Employment Standards Act now apply to you?

Mark Thursday, October 22nd on your calendar, and plan to attend this informative seminar.  As part of a full week of events planned for Small Business Week (October 19 - 23), this presentation is being hosted by the Agriculture Development Office of the City of . All of Thursday's seminars are targeted around Human Resources topics, and this one is for farm operations of all types and sizes.

You will hear from representatives of the Ministry of Labour and the Farm Safety Association. They will cover changes to the mentioned Acts which came into effect in 2006 and are now mandatory on all farms which pay employees or contractors for work. What are the duties of the employer and the worker? What incidents need to be reported, and who do I call?  Sample policies and programs for farming operations will be reviewed.
